Futuring

How I would grade School Train
The first time I watched School Train I got dizzy and thought that the kids must have had fun trying every special effect that they could find. The music, for me did not add, but I am not a fan of repetitive music like that. So after I got the personal feelings out of my system I watched it again and this time without sound. I could focus more on the content and I appreciated it much better.

I'd assess the piece based on:
  • creativity,
  • collaboration
  • content
all which were much easier for me to see with the music turned off.

The impact of Epic 2015 on my classroom
The developments portrayed in epic2015 reminded me of various science fiction movies and books I've watched and read. The first impact it had on me was regarding the loss of a printed hard copy world. As much as I love the technology that I am fortunate to have I could not live without my books too. In my classroom though I'm not so sure this would be my students reaction. I suspect that my students could take ideas from this to create their own podcasts and their own versions of the development of an idea and how it would look in the future. There is a definite story line that I could follow and get shivers from as Google grows into Googlezon and Epic.

A model for my own students based on SabrinaJourney
I could see using this with my students to make their own autobiography based on a question that they would answer through their own interpretations of a visual and audio landscape. I think this video would give the students many ideas of how they could share their own story.

(After figuring out that I could make bullets and wanting to try it, I came back into this post and without changing the wording, I changed the look of it!)

  1. I think your point about School Train is important. Sometimes, when I'm playing around with effects they seem entertaining, but they might have unintended results depending on the audience.

  2. Greetings from Moscow...I wouldn't have thought to turn the sound off. Send me your e-mail address and I'll send you some international school links - and a how to. ann.symons@aas.ru
